Reasons why reinstallation into PXE failed

This document details the common reasons and solutions for failure to enter PXE boot mode when the server is reinstalled.

Main reasons for PXE boot failure:

  • Network connection issues: Abnormal network connection between server and PXE server
  • BIOS/UEFI configuration: Incorrect boot order settings, network boot is not enabled
  • DHCP service exception: Unable to obtain IP address or DHCP Configuration error
  • TFTP service problem: The TFTP service on the PXE server is not functioning properly
  • Firewall blocking: A firewall rule blocks PXE-related network communication
  • Hardware incompatibility: The server network card does not support PXE boot
  • PXE server configuration error: PXE The server's configuration file is incorrect

Troubleshooting steps:

  1. Check the server network connection status
  2. Confirm the boot settings in BIOS/UEFI
  3. Verify the DHCP and TFTP service status
  4. Check the firewall rules
  5. Check the system log for detailed error information
